Nancy Breakstone is a local life long photographer whose passion has become shooting the natural art that the ocean leaves in the sand. She has been traveling to Costa Rica where she walks the dark beaches as the tide recedes, waiting for images to appear in the sand. As the seasons and tides change, so do the images in their complex and intricate composition.

Nature creates so many beautiful and exceptional images and she brings them life to those who never imagined that they existed through her photographic series which she calls “Impressions In The Sand”. Although her journey to photograph these images began 5 years ago, she didn’t make them available to the public until May of 2017 when she felt that she had a complete collection of her work.

Artist’s Statement
Even though photography is a recreation of images, I find it to be a connection with my inner world, my minds’ eye. What I see in the natural designs of the lava sand palette that the pacific ocean waves are constantly shaping is a reflection of my connection to the natural world. Forms are the world, verbal communication has become less important than sound bites. But art has the ability to translate the inner self into an outward expression that others can emotionally connect to. That is my goal in these photographs, to be able to articulate to others emotionally what I see and feel in and about these timeless patterns. All are unique, constantly changed by the gentle undulation of waves. By exhibiting my work in an atmosphere where the human inner sanctum overpowers the constant barrage of outside noise, my hope is that my vision will be recognized as kindred to other visions which each of us call our own
