Artspeak/From Page to Performance:These welcoming Ekphrastic (Writing inspired and honoring the Arts) once monthly creative writing workshops for beginner and seasoned writers continue to be an integral part of community outreach for BDAC. Created and hosted by Yonkers first poet laureate, golda Solomon and joined by multi-talented co-hosts, Katori Walker & Evan Bishop. To encourage and foster writing in all genres, these workshops will include: breathing techniques, meditation, visualization, vocalizing exercises, traditional and contemporary poetry forms, prompts responding to all genres of art, how to include the 5 senses in creative writing and FPTP, improving our delivery techniques for sharing to an audience.

FIRST THURSDAY GALLERY HOP:
Artists and art lovers can stop by all three downtown Yonkers Art Galleries to preview current exhibitions. Blue Door Art Center, Riverfront Art Gallery, and US+U/Warburton Galeries will be opening their doors to host the popular First Thursday event. Light refreshments will be served. In collaboration with this event, many downtown restaurants will offer 10% discounts on food and beverages to Gallery Hop visitors via a photo of the Gallery Hop poster with the date displayed in each location.
