Carol Herd-Rodriguez

My paintings are meditations on surroundings and perceptions. I observe my subjects from a perspective of wonder, and I interpret seeing and feeling with curiosity and awe. Making art is a process and the images are a product of material reactions, and thoughtful intention. Current series include Palisades Abstracts (based on the Hudson River and the Palisades) and The Palisades Along the Hudson.

Living along the River fuels my spirit. The views from the banks of the Hudson inspire and energize me. Though my paintings cannot compare to the magnificence of the Hudson they are an expression of my admiration. The paintings are a visual manifestation of the numinous qualities of the river and its shores.

I grew-up in the River Towns of Westchester County New York. The Hudson River and the local landscape drew me back to the area as an adult.
