Contemporary Artist | United States | Sandra Cardona
Sandra is an aspiring contemporary artist drawn to exploring conceptual, evocative themes through her paintings. Her work is deeply rooted in personal historical references, such as memories of childhood that are at times dark and intensely moving; which are taken apart and reconstructed through a fluid, architectural language presenting a palpable scale-less, textured and layered view of her experiences.
She was born in East Harlem and lived there until the age of 5 when her family moved to The Bronx where she was raised. Formally trained in architecture at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, after graduation she has held numerous positions as: architect, designer, creative and conceptual consultant across countless architectural and interior projects. She most recently led a development and capital planning team for a Hotel REIT where she was fully engaged in both conceptual and design direction for a wide range of hospitality projects.
Sandra is currently working on a series of paintings based on examining the places where she has lived, in way of connecting their spatial quality to specific experiential moments.
