Join us on June 14th for a preview of Trio, works made at the David E. Rockefeller Creative Arts Center by Blue Door Art Center Artists-in-Residence, Susan MacMurdy, Amanda Lynne, and Pradeep Gupta.
This special pre-opening event will feature live jazz by the Robert Silverman Trio, made up of Robert Silverman, Blue Door member, on organ, Andy Pastorino, Blue Door member, on drums, and Andy Bassford on guitar. Mojitos, empanadas, and other delightful light bites and soft drinks will be served.
Blue Door Art Center was the recipient of the 2023/24 Community Arts Residency Award and as part of our activities which included workshops for all ages, tours, and a concert, this Trio of Artists, each had two months to work in the beautiful, light filled art studio at Pocantico Center in Tarrytown, New York. The community arts residency is supported by the RBF Culpeper Arts & Culture program and The Pocantico Center.
Susan MacMurdy is an artist and former educator. Born in White Plains, NY, she has lived between the Bronx and the Hudson Valley, returning to the Bronx in 2013. She received a BA with Distinction in Fine Arts from The George Washington University.She holds two graduate degrees from Bank Street College of Education and was a founding teacher at the Bronx New School in the 1980s. Her work has been exhibited in solo, curated, and juried exhibitions. Her collages and early woodblock and linoleum prints have been featured in publications focused on issues of spirituality, peace, social and earth justice. Her recent work contemplates the complex relationship between Nature and the urban environment; a relationship characterized by fragility and persistence.
Amanda Lynne is a New York painter and mixed media artist originally from Yonkers and Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. She holds a BFA in Illustration and Art Education from Pratt Institute, and an MFA from The College of New Rochelle. She has studied internationally in Rome, Italy. Pradeep Gupta, born and raised in India, is a NewYork based artist. He creates his art in mix medium using all kind of unconventional tools but brushes. Pradeep has collaborated with Cozy Stone, a writer from LA on her two books to translate her motivational Quotes into visual art. The books are available at Amazon. Pradeep works can be found in the private living rooms of art lovers around the globe. Pradeep is strong follower of peace and humanity.
