A delightful dozen of the Manhattan Quilters Guild will be showcasing their approaches to the Contemporary Art Quilt in ways that will astonish and reward the visitor. Come talk with the artists, enjoy the tasty and welcoming atmosphere of Blue Door Gallery.
Several MQG members will be familiar to Blue Door Gallery visitors. Randy Frost has demonstrated her "painterly" fiber collage techniques in previous Show & Tell exhibitions.
Ruth Marchese's sheer "Windows of Color" often hold messages of world concerns even as they glow.
Benedicte Caneill combines painted and scraped cloth to create her energized piecing.
Arle´ Sklar-Weinstein, Director of BDG, is happily a member of this Guild and will include her inventive Deconstructed ‘quilt” of layered organza and cotton panels.
Ludmila Aristova’s poetry in fiber,
Katherine Knauer’s whimsical self-designed fabric, and
Paula Nadelstern’s Kaleidescopic inventions have teased us in their smaller works in several of our Holiday Boutiques and now viewers will have the opportunity to see their larger, very impressive artwork.
New to BDG is Erin Wilson, whose meticulous miniature piecing references architecture; Beth Carney who uses her own subtlety dyed fabric and fine quilting to create movement; Robin Schwalb, whose fascination with words gives new meaning to the medium is the message; Teresa Barkley whose collection of old theme fabrics feeds her passion to create story quilts, and Daphne Taylor, whose devine stitching invites meditation.
Blue Door is honored and delighted to showcase their talent.
