Artist Bio: Jacqueline Lorieo started her art career three decades ago and has studied with Greg Wyatt in New York, Martine Vaugel in France, and Ron Mineo in Italy. Because of her scientific background gained through a masters program in Occupational Therapy at NYU, she has always been interested in the human body. Lorieo balances studio time and work as an O.T. in a grade school in NYC, and tries to incorporate art elements into her therapy sessions with the children.

Lorieo works in several media including clay, wood, bronze, and glass. The size of the pieces range from life size to small hand-held medals. She is particularly partial to body fragments, and enjoys the plasticity and ease of modeling in clay. The eventual casting of pieces in bronze provides permanence and a connection with a centuries old historical art process.

Lorieo’s work is included in public and private collections including The British Museum, The American Numismatic Society, Helen Hayes Hospital, Gaylord Hospital and the Austin Center. She has exhibited in numerous shows in the USA and abroad. She has won several awards including the gold medal for sculpture from the National Association of Women Artists, and a study scholarship from the American Numismatic Association’s Gilroy Roberts Foundation.
