Before The Arab Spring
Saturday 10/18 @11AM at BLUE DOOR GALLERY
This EuroNews "No Comment" style film gives the viewer the opportunity to see life and art as it was before the crisis in the Middle East and explores another angle of the effects of the Syrian conflict. This film was shot in and around Syria in 2009 and captured much of the antiquity that had survived there for centuries. There are visits to several archaeological sites as well as footage from the cities of Damascus and Aleppo. The images provides a unique and haunting testament to the beauty of what had long stood there, because now much of what was filmed has been destroyed by bombings or taken by scavengers and sold to anonymous buyers for their own gains.
The screening will be followed by and question and answer session with filmmaker, Katherine Sokolnikoff
