Judith and Richard WildeJudith and Richard Wilde: It’s About Time
September 26 – October 31, 2026
A two-person Exhibition,  Judith Wilde, Collages  Richard Wilde, Photographs

Two distinct creative voices come together in It’s About Time, an exhibition exploring memory, visual language, experimentation, and the unexpected connections that emerge through image-making. Playful, layered, and thought-provoking, the work invites viewers to slow down, look closely, and discover their own meanings.

Judith Wilde explores the complexity of time as it pertains to multiple facets of life. Using collage and pencil as the medium, working mostly in a small 8” by 8” format, Judith uses the face of a clock as a point of departure in each collage. In some collages she uses antique clock faces as a ground on which to explore her ideas. Each collage challenges the viewers’ attention concerning the mysteries of time.

Richard Wilde uses photography as a medium to explore and document the impact of nature and time on World War I and World War II cast iron military toy soldiers, (2 ¼” high, whose heads measure 1/4” in size). Seeing these images enlarged and at times, human size speaks of the inevitable deterioration that time yields yet gives a new life to the erosion of the paint on each soldier which tells the story of the figures’ lifetime, as a toy, and in some cases echoes the horrors of war. Richard’s photos are also vintage toys of Native Americans, Boy Scouts and Amish figures, as well as antique Chocolate Molds.

There is a yin and yang contrast between the two artists’ work, in that Judith’s work is playful, fanciful and speaks to the uplifting expressions of specific moments in time. On the other hand, Richard’s work, which can be frightful at times, encompasses an ominous beauty. Together, they have explored two essential worlds suggesting a more encompassing look at the vagaries of time.

We both have had the distinct impression that in the creation of these works, when we were truly present to the act of making art, time stopped.
