“And I live times distilled from time past” This quote by Seamus Heaney in the NY Times sets the tone for next series of ArtSpeak/FP2P (From Page to Performance) ekphrastic workshops. This long running revered writing series has participants from its beginnings and new writers who have joined. Teen writers would be welcomed and nurtured by the writers from 39 – 65 plus. All have lived productive lives and now are looking at their past with a writer’s perspective. Many have health and  financial issues. Scholarships are always available

“This workshop is my sacred space.”  A look at the past with new perspectives that come with age and maturity will be explored. How we move forward creatively in these tumultuous times, Art from the classics will combine with writing prompts and poems from the collections of  Seamus Heaney, Arthur Sze, Ada Limon and Ellen Bryant Voigt. As a Communications professor and performance poet, participants will have the opportunity to hone their delivery and reading aloud skills. Opportunities for appearing at Open and Invited Mics will be available in Yonkers at Po'Jazz, On line with Creative Expressions and other venues.

These workshops will expand your writing repertoire and explore,”finding and utilizing your platform/performing voice and persona”. Your observational and listening skills will be strengthened. Your speaking/performing voice is integral to the creative writing process. A communications perspective combined with traditional and non-traditional approaches will facilitate and enhance your discovery of yourself as writer/poet/speaker/performer.

Workshops will include: prompts and exercises that jumpstart your writing, non-judgmental techniques that strengthen your writing, Muti-sensory excursuses to stimulate the creative process.
