An Evening WIth Quentin Crisp
Sunday 10/19 @11AM
Quentin Crisp delivered his one man show intermittently for over a decade, and this performance was filmed live, on-stage in January of 1999. An Evening with Quentin Crisp is hilarious and darkly funny, light heartedly piercing and jovial. A regal member in a stately succession of British eccentrics, Mr. Crisp communicates his sense of feminine glamour and droll black humor, at once camp, modest, unabashed and practical. Quentin was glamorous and a writer on lifestyle, film and its stars Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford, Marlene Dietrich and Bette Davis. His audience identifies with him at age 90 like a grandparent who wants us all to be happy and his 'messages of hope' are full of human tenderness and irony. A reparative wisdom and forgiveness are in his prescription for each of us, how to progress through the stages of 'making,' to 'doing,' finally to arrive at the 'profession of being.'
The screening will be followed by and question and answer session with filmmaker, L. Brandon Krall.
