Blue Door Art Center announces the installation of a new sculpture by artist Richard Brachman along the Hudson River. His work Cat’s Cradlecan now be seen in the park in front of the Science Barge.
Richard Brachman creates public art with the intention of provoking thought on social issues that affect everyone. He uses a variety of media to convey his ideas including recycled wood, steel, fiberglass and resin, and standard construction materials. By leaving the sculptures open, Brachman invites the viewer to visually or physically enter the sculpture and have a different experience from that of the viewing from the outside. The immediacy of climbing inside or on is a tactile experience that reinforces design, use of materials, building technique and the issues that inspire these works.
